The
American Society of Swedish Engineers is the oldest professional
society in the United States. It was founded in February 1888 by an
energetic group of young Swedish engineers, who came to America to
complete their education or to seek new opportunities. The Society
is focusing on Swedish industry and has, over the years, provided an
important link in the exchange of information and good will between
the two countries.

"The
purpose of this association shall be the maintenance of a Society for the
promotion of the Arts and Sciences connected with Engineering and
Mechanical Construction and to promote Scientific progress by
Readings, Lectures and Discussions".
